About Us

On North Mohawk Street in Cohoes, the Elks Lodge is the kind of place where a grandfather's membership becomes a family legacy. That's not a marketing line, it comes directly from the people who show up here, year after year, because this lodge treated their loved ones like family even in grief. When a longtime member passed away recently, the lodge held a memorial service so moving that his granddaughter called it beautiful. That's what BPOE membership actually looks like from the inside.

The lodge draws members from across the Capital District, and its central location off Mohawk Street makes it genuinely easy to get to whether you're coming from Troy, Albany, or Waterford. Inside, it's clean, comfortable, and unpretentious. The crowd is multigenerational. You'll find retirees who've been members for decades sitting alongside younger families who discovered the lodge through a Christmas breakfast or a community fundraiser and decided to stay.

With a 4.6-star rating built on 34 honest reviews, this isn't a place that coasts on reputation. People keep coming back because the environment delivers: good food at fair prices, events that actually bring families together, and a membership that functions more like a neighborhood than an organization.

What We Offer

The Cohoes Elks Lodge runs a full calendar of events that give members and guests real reasons to gather. Seasonal holiday events like the annual Christmas breakfast bring Santa, families, and affordable plates to the table. Community fundraisers, charitable drives, and scholarship programs connect the lodge to the broader Cohoes and Capital District community in tangible ways.

The lodge facility itself is available for private events and memorial services, and the latter is handled with genuine care and dignity, as members' families have noted. Regular social nights, lodge dinners, and member meetings fill the weekly schedule, giving members consistent opportunities to connect rather than just showing up once a year.

Membership in the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks also unlocks national benefits: access to Elks lodges across the country, scholarship opportunities for youth, and a network of civic-minded members who share a commitment to community service. Whether you're exploring membership or planning a visit to an upcoming event, the door at 45 N Mohawk St is genuinely open.

"Very nice place and the members are like family to me. My grandfather was a member there, he passed away this year and they held such a beautiful memorial service for members who have past away this year. Thank you for such a heartwarming service, it meant alot to our family and I know it would have meant the world to Frank to have his close friends and family come together to celebrate his life as an Elk and as the best man some have ever met. He will be deeply missed and I thank the Cohoes Elks Lodge sincerely from the bottom of my heart for having such a beautiful ceremony for my best friend. Thank you guys"

Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
